Strikeforce Challengers Post Fight Interviews

February 26th was the date.  San Jose, CA was the place.  Strikeforce Challengers was the event that focused on the up and coming fighter and for a new champion to be crowned.

The first 6 of 7 fights of the night on the preliminary card were, surprisingly enough, amateur bouts. The fights consisted of 3 2minute rounds and did not allow elbow strikes.

Here is the first of of the 6 amateur winners.

Meet Ronald Carillo, Bantamweight:

This is Steve Dickey, Heavyweight:

Making her Amateur debut in the women’s Middleweight division (145lbs), Renee Robinson:

And in the Featherweight division, Jesse Tobar:

Tristan Arenal was victorious in the Lightweight division and will soon make his pro debut:

And the last of the amateur fighters of the night, Samuel Bracamonte. Bracamonte fights in the Middleweight division:

In the first pro bout of the night. Wayne Phillips was victorious in the Middleweight division:

Now for the main card winners…

In the first fight of the main card, Yancy Medeiros was able to secure a unanimous decision win:

Tarec Saffiedine fought his way to a unanimous decision win with Dan Henderson in his corner:

Luke Rockhold continues his assault on the Middleweight division:

In the co-main event of the evening, a bit of disappointment. Veteran Trevor Prangley and Karl Amoussou fought to a Technical Draw because of an inadvertent eye poke in the first round. I will let Prangley and Amoussou explain.

This is Trevor Prangley:

And now hear from Karl Amoussou:

And finally, Sarah Kaufman was able to work her way to an unanimous decision win over Takato Hashi:

Great night of fights and I want to thank Strikeforce and all the fighters for the opportunity talk to them. This blog is not just about the news from the stars of MMA. It is also for the up and coming fighter to have the chance to get a little bit of time in the spotlight for you to get to know them.
