Major change to UFC 111 card
Just over 48 hours prior to UFC 111, a major change to the stacked card has taken place.
The highly anticipated fight between welterweight contenders Jon Fitch and Thiago Alves is off after Alves was a late scratch from the fight due to a failed CAT scan.
Fortunately for the former Purdue Boilermaker wrestling standout, Alves’ withdrawl from the fight won’t hinder him from fighting in New Jersey, as Ben Saunders has been moved up to the main card and will be facing Fitch. Saunders was already booked for UFC 111, slated to face Jake Ellenberger. Due to the late change, the time to find a replacement fight for him is highly difficult, thus the Nebraskan is being bumped from the show. To make up for the inconvience, Ellenberger has been promised his “show” and “win” money to make up for the UFC’s last-minute switch.
