Cage Combat Fighting Championships: El Reventon
A good night of fights from up and coming fighters
El Reventon is the second Cage Combat Fighting Championships event that I have had the chance to cover in the last year. The difference between El Reventon and Rush was that Rush had a true full night of fights. El Reventon had a lot of changes leading up to the event and a couple in the night of the event.
First, let’s hear from the winners of the night’s fights:
In the first fight of the night, Drew Bittner was victorious over Hussein Rasouli by Kimora in the 2nd round.
The second fight of the night saw Lightweight Michael Stratton defeat Kyle Dundas by Rear Naked Choke in the 1st round.
The third fight of the night saw a 3 round war between Hector Sandoval and Ronnie Carrillo. Sandoval was able to pull out the unanimous decision win over Carrillo with plenty of takedowns and ground and pound.
In the fifth fight of the night, Juan Azevedo defeated Daniel Mitchell by TKO in the first round. A bit of controversy with the stoppage of the fight. Many thought that Mitchell could have continued, but the ref felt that Mitchell was in danger of being hurt.
And what turned into the main event of the night, Bobby Stack fought his way to a unanimous decision win over Tom Peterson. With the win, Stack becomes the CCFC Lightweight Champion.
After all the fights were done for the night, I had a chance to talk with CCFC promoter Todd Middendorp about the night of fights, the craziness leading up to the event and the loss of the main event and one other fight.
A good night of fights with a chance to look at some of the guys that may be with the big boys very soon. If there is a promotion near you, please head out and support your local MMA fighter.
