Shark Fights announces fight team for inagural pay-per-view event

With Shark Fights’ inaugural pay-per-view on the horizon, the Amarillo, Texas base promotion has announced their three-man commentary crew for the event.

Leading the commentary trio will be a pair of Mixed Martial Arts legends, Bas Rutten and Don Frye.

Rutten has been involved in the fight industry, in some capacity, for more than 20 years. He was the UFC Heavyweight Champion, a three-time King of Pancrase, and finished his fight career on a twenty-two-fight win streak. He is also a well-recognized color commentator, responsible for commentating the Pride promotion, amongst others.

Frye is considered a pioneer in the sport of mixed martial arts. Following a successful collegiate wrestling career at Arizona State and Oklahoma State University, Frye moved on to the sport of MMA and competed in some of the most prestigious fight promotions in the world, including Pride, K-1 and The Ultimate Fighting Championships. Frye is also no stranger to the Shark Fights promotion, fighting once under the company banner; a 2009 loss to Dave Herman.

“We have put together what we refer to as our ‘Commentating Dream Team’ for the September 11 show,” Shark Fights president Brent Medley said. “It was extremely important for us to secure a credible commentating team that is not only knowledgeable, but also entertaining to watch. We are confident that Rutten and Frye will prove to be one of the best , and most entertaining color commentating teams that the MMA community has ever experienced.”

Joining Rutten and Frye behind the microphone will be broadcasting veteran Ron Kruck. Kruck has covered many sporting events in his career beyond MMA, which include; the Stanley Cup playoffs, Major League Baseball playoffs, NBA playoffs, NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, Olympic Trials and the Fiesta and Orange Bowls. Kruck has worked for Mark Cuban’s high-definition network, HDNet, since 2003 and is the lead reporter / news anchor for the popular program “Inside MMA, and also reports from ringside for the HDNet Fights promotion.
