Nick Diaz vs KJ Noons Rematch Announced
While most fans would love to see a grudge match between Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller and Nick Diaz, Strikeforce has another grudge match in mind, but will it be for the title?
Strikeforce has announce that the long awaited rematch between Strikeforce Welterweight Champ Nick Diaz and KJ Noons will take place at Strikeforce: San Jose on October 9th.
Now for the history lesson….
3 or so years ago, KJ Noons beat Nick Diaz for the Elite XC Lightweight title. Diaz didn’t feel that the fight should have been stopped, but Diaz was pretty cut up. Then at an Elite XC event in Hawaii, Diaz and his brother Nate were asked into the ring after Noons had defended his belt. Elite XC wanted Diaz to say that he wanted a rematch, but craziness ensued.
Needless to say the rematch has been brewing for sometime and Strikeforce will need to have extra security for all press conferences.
Also on the October 8th card, Sarah Kaufman will defend her title against Marloes Coenen and Matt Lindland will face Luke Rockhold.
(Update: Just received an email from Mike Afromowitz in regard to whether or not the Welterweight title will be on the line….and yes it will. Nick Diaz will defend his title against KJ Noons.)
