David Blanco vs Christian Buron – Blanco wins by decision

Alan Francis Perez vs Johnathan Del Rosario

RD 1:

Perez and Del Rosario exchange and jockey for position.  Perez grabs top position and words for an anaconda choke, but is unable to get the tap.  Perez 10- 9 due to position and control with the submission attempt.

RD 2:

Fighters circle …Perez pushes to Del Rosario into the cage…Perez runs and then shots for a leg.  Fight goes to the ground with Del Rosario on top, but fighting a Kimura.  Del Rosario has Perez’s back and goes for the Rear Naked, but Perez is able to block the attempt.  10-9 Del Rosario.

RD 3:

Fighters are in the clinch and Del Rosario is throwing knees…Perez throws a nasty spinning back fight and drops Del Rosario for the knock out and the win.  Alan Francis Perez wins by 3rd round Knock Out.

Jared Hess vs Eric Faria

RD 1:

Hess is able to get Faria to the cage and ultimately to the ground.  Faria able to neutralize Hess’s attack from top position, but Hess is able to get a little ground and pound in.  Hess 10-9

RD 2:

Fighters circle and Faria lands a leg kick and Faria pushes Hess to the cage.  Hess reverses Faria and gets Faria in an Arm Triangle.  Faria does not tap and starts to go to sleep as the Ref stops the fight.  Hess by Submission-Arm Triangle.

Johnathan Chaplin vs Ben Ernest -185lbs

RD 1:

Touch gloves…circle, exchange…Ernest slips, but is able to get back to his feet.  fight goes to cage side, but not for long…Chaplin is pressing the action with jabs, but Ernest is able to counter well…Chaplin moves forward…fighters clinch, goes to the ground with Ernest in control and jumps to a RNC attempt, but is not able to lock it in.  Ernest 10-9

RD 2:

Fighters meet in middle, short exchange, Ernest throws a right leg kick, but Chaplin grabs the kick and gets a take down…Chaplin moves to side control.   Chaplin had Ernest briefly in a Crucifix and is landing shots, but cannot hold the position.  Ernest is able to stop the beating from bottom as the round ends.  Chaplin 10-9

RD 3:

Meet in the middle for round 3.  Not much action, Chaplin lands a big right sending Ernest to the canvas.  Chaplin jumps into mount, but not able to do much with it.  Postures up finally, drops a punch, but Ernest is able to reverse the mount and get into Chaplin’s guard and throws some ground and pound.  Round ends.  Ernest 10-9.

Scott scores this bout 29-28 Ernest.  Judges score the bout 29-28 for Chaplin.

Justin Bronson vs Robert Johnson- 230lbs

RD 1:

Bronson gets round 1 due to wrestling control.  Not many punches were thrown in the first round. Bronson 10-9

RD 2:

This round sees Johnson do a little better grappling.  This fight is more a wrestling match than a MMA fight.  Johnson 10-9

RD 3:

Johnson is trying to get more strikes but Bronson is able to get the fight back to the ground.  Back to the feet and Johnson is swinging for the fences and the the is stopped and Robert Johnson gets the victory by TKO in the 3rd.

Bouscal wins by Submission (Arm Triangle) in the 2nd round.

Main Card:

Tyron Woodley vs Andre Galvao

RD 1:

Fights starts and the fighters circle…both throw a jab and then Galvao goes for the fences and misses.  Woodley gets top position for a second and drops a couple lefts…fight back to the feet.  Galvao goes for an over hand right and misses.  Woodley tags Galvao and it looks as if Galvao is hurt.  Galvao goes for another take down, Woodley lands and wobbles Galvao.  Galvao goes for another shot and is stuffed, Woodley lands a couple more shots and the fight is over.  Tyron Woodley wins by TKO in the first.

Sarah Kaufman (c) vs Marloes Coenen

RD 1:

Pretty even round.  Both fighters jockeying for position.  Coenen is using her size to the advantage, but not much of an advantage.  10-9 coenen.

RD 2:

Fighters circle.  Still feeling each other out.  Coenen throws combo and then moves to the clinch.   Fight moves to the cage, Kaufman has control and the boo birds are in town.  Exchange of knees, ref stops and moves the fight to the center of the cage.  Not much action.  each fighter looking tentative to engage.  Finally exchange and clinch and back to the cage…Kaufman back in control.  More knees.  Ref breaks the action.  Coenen goes for a high kick and misses…back to a clinch, Coenen goes for a take down…misses and now in bottom position.  Kaufman lands some ground and pound, but Coenen goes for an arm bar, but can’t quite get it…round ends.  10-9 Kaufman

RD 3:

Round begins and the ladies circle.  Coenen lands a take down, but Kaufman is able to reverse and get top position.  Kaufman is not opening up with the ground and pound, but not much landing.  Coenen goes and lands the arm bar and the fight is stopped.  Kaufman taps due to Armbar.  Marleos Coenen is the new Strikeforce Women’s 135 pound Champion.

Josh Thomson vs JZ Cavalcante

RD 1:

Cavalcante’s round for the sub attempts.  10-9 JZ

RD 2:

Josh has grabbed control of this round after getting free in the first from a pretty nasty arm in guillotine in the first and almost landing an arm triangle of his own.  Thomson has maintained top position for most of the round.  10-9 Thomson.

RD 3:

Thomson grabs control of the bout again and pushes JZ to the cage.  JZ goes for the trip and gets mount on Thomson.  Thomson stalls by holding JZ’s head and neck pretty tight.  And the boo birds chant.  JZ trying to get position but Thomson gets rubber and plays to the camera and gets back to his feet.  JZ lands something and Thomson falls back and JZ gets back in top position.  And the action stalls again on the cage.  Thomson is trying to get out, but can’t.  End of round.  10-9 Cavalcante.

Josh Thomson wins by Decision

Nick Diaz (c) vs KJ Noons

RD 1:

Diaz 10-9

RD 2:

Noons is able to stand in the pocket more with Diaz.  Diaz was kicking, but Noons is starting to land more often.  Great trades from the 2, but it looks like Noons is getting the better.   Solid body shots from Noons as well.  Both guys are bleeding, but Diaz is bleeding more.  Noons is beating Diaz to the punch.  Noons is walking Diaz down.  Noons 10-9

RD 3:

Diaz is getting more of the exchanges this round.  For some reason this fight is still in its feet.  Mostly a boxing match with the occasion kick or knee thrown.  Diaz has control of center cage.  and is now taunting Noons a bit and gets the reaction.  Exhanging punches center cage.  Diaz landing more this round. Diaz starting to press the action, but Noons is moving away and countering.  Exchange of body blows.  Lunging left from Noons that misses.  10-9 Diaz.

RD 4:

Exchange of kicks to start the 4th.  Diaz is taunting Noons again.  Another good body blow by Noons.  Diaz responding in kind.  Standing in the middle of cage….boxing.  Diaz seems to be using his reach much better in this fight.  This is going to be a really hard fight to score if it goes the distance.  Diaz is slowing starting to ramp it up this round.  The first clinch of the fight leads to a knee thrown by Diaz.  A well timed uppercut lands for Noons.  Knee landed by Noons and Diaz responds with a couple of shots.   More body shots to end the round by Noons.  How the hell do I score this one… 10-9 Diaz

RD 5:

Here comes the final round…Diaz throws a couple weak kicks and then troes for a take down but misses.  Diaz lands a kick to the head, but not much is on it. More taunting.  A lot of throws and misses by both fighters.  Noons wades in but misses all punches that he throws.  Diaz tries for another take down and is stopped.   Good right by Diaz.  Diaz clinches, but Noons is able to circle out.  Good right hand by Noons.  Diaz is getting more of the exchanges…Noons lands a straight right.  Diaz tries for a trip, but to no avail.  coming into the last minute and the crowd cheers them on.  Who wants it more….Noons is persuing…last 10 seconds…

Nick Diaz retains the Strikeforce Welterweight Title by Unanimous Decision.
